Frequent questions

Was müssen wir mitnehmen?
You'll get a list ahead of the Tour, but in general:
  • 2 pair of shoes, one of which will get wet. It must be a closed shoe with a mountain profile. Sandals and "river shoes" are not allowed! The best option ist mountain boots or at least trekking shoes, because we will be walking in rough mountain terrain which is also slippery on top. And yes, up until now all shoes have dried in 1-2 days at the latest.
  • Bathsuits or swimshorts
  • Towel
  • Tight-fitting synthetic T-shirts or leggings/shorts, if desired or available. Wearing the above-mentioned clothing makes the hike to the gorge a bit more comfortable. This clothing will be worn under the wetsuit and will therefore get wet.
  • No jewelry/earrings/necklaces/rings, they might get lost or caught up in hair and rope
  • Contact lenses instead of glasses, otherwise glasses tied up with a strap so they don't get lost (normally I carry something to secure the glasses)

What is Canyoning?
Canyoning means descending water-filled gorges without the aid of flotation devices (boats, etc.). Various techniques are used to overcome obstacles: swimming, walking, climbing, rappelling, jumping, and sliding.
Why don't you take children under 6?
Because the water is cold, and young children have a harder time regulating their body temperature. In addition, we venture into rough waters, so in addition to being a good swimmer, a certain amount of body mass is necessary to avoid being “swept away.”
What happens if there's bad weather?
Rain doesn’t bother us, because we’re going to get wet anyway. High water levels may require us to change our plans. If the alternative route costs less, the difference will be refunded; if it costs more, NO additional charge will be applied. In extremely rare cases (high risk of thunderstorms), a tour may have to be canceled. Safety is my top priority.

Will we get wet?
Yesss!!!!!!

What if I'm sensitive to the cold?
Me too! We’ll be moving around quite a bit, so we’ll stay warm enough. Plus, you’ll be wearing 6.5 mm neoprene wetsuits—they’re very warm and even come with a hood. It’ll get cold at times, but we won’t be in the water the whole time. Let me know when you book if the cold is a concern, and we’ll pick the right tour together.

How big are the groups?
I lead tours for groups of two or more people. For more difficult tours, the maximum group size is limited to 8 (4 or 6 for extreme tours); for moderate tours, up to 10 people; and for easy tours, up to 12.
